weekend summary

I've had a fun weekend. The first edge of the year was Friday, so it was neat to be back. After the Edge, Dan came out to my house, my mom fed us supper, then we went to Lindells and watched the Dave Chapelle DVD. It was pretty funny, not as funny as I was hoping for. Saturday, I got home about 12, did stuff around the house, then went to an Edge cookout. I parked behind Rob Gerber's truck, like 2 feet behind it (I was avoiding a no parking zone), and didn't think anything of it. Later that evening, Sam, Rob's 3 year old son, was playing in the truck and bumped it out of gear. Now, normally that wouldn't be a problem because most prudent people have their parking brakes on, but in this case, the truck rolled down the hill, right into my van. Sweet. There wasn't much damage, but it was pretty funny.

After the cookout, I went over to the Justin-Eric-Lance household and watched the Bourne Identity to prepare for seeing the Supremacy. What a great movie! I spent the night there, went to Big Apple Bagels for breakfast (blueberry with honey-nut spread, MMMM good), then went to church and home. I spent the evening at home for my parents sake.

FYI, I'm drinking wine right now and it's great.

I went for a bike ride this evening, too, which was fun. I haven't been biking lately cause I've been working on the running thing, but running is hurting my knees. For some reason, even the knee that I haven't injured is hurting when I run. Suck. Hopefully I'll be able to do the 4 mile run anyhow; I'm giving my knees some time to recover.

Tomorrow morning, Justin Wise, Megan Irwin, and Julie White are coming to my house at 7:30am. Why? We're driving up to Bloomer to eat breakfast at the Main Street Cafe, which is a pretty sweet little cafe. I'm not even sure how it came up, but we decided that we wanted to go out to eat in Colfax; it turns out that the two resturaunts in Colfax have been sold and have new phone numbers (the old numbers are disconnected) or else just died off. So we're going to Bloomer, then back to Eau Claire to go waterskiing with a bunch of people. It should be a fun day. I've gotta do homework at some point, too.... drat.

I've been reading some really interesting stuff about transfer photography--it's this procress where you disassemble polaroid film after you've exposed it, then soak it in water, then roll it onto watercolor paper. It gives some really sweet results (example 1, 2, 3) which make me want to try it. I worked on building a sweet pinhole camera today, too, cause those are a blast. Plus I have to get rid of some b&w photo paper anyhow.

I found a sweet website today, too-- alternativephotography.com. Check out this photo, too.
